More people especially middle-age ladies are increasingly health conscious so smoothie drink was mixed to serve this group of drinker. Smoothie drink will have fresh fruits or fruit juices as main ingredients and mix with rum then blend with crushed ice. My suggested recipe today is Strawberry Daiquiri that is the blending of Havana Club light rum. Triple sec, strawberry liqueur, lime juice and syrup. You can replace strawberry liqueur with fresh strawberry.

Let get to know about the main ingredients. Rum is alcohol distilled from the fermentation of sugarcane or molasses. There are three types of rum. White rum has light body and light taste. It is very dry rum that produced without the aging process so sometimes people call it silver rum. For people want stronger body, they should try gold rum that has medium body. Rum is stored in the wooden barrel to bring the golden colour. Caramel may be added to bring better taste and colour. Dark rum is suitable for people like strongest flavour as dark caramel is added to bring the colour.

Triple sec is orange-flavoured liqueur. It is a product from France and has about 30 degree of alcohol so it is classified as liqueur fine. The classification of liqueur is determined by the level of alcohol. Liqueur extra-fine will have 35-45 degree, liqueur fine with 25-35 degree and liqueur’s courante with alcohol below 25 degree.

Strawberry is a temperate fruit with red colour and soft sweet or sour flesh. It is in the same family with plum and rose. It contains high vitamin A and C as well as phosphorus and calcium.
