According to the World Health Organization, poultry and poultry products can be safely handled and cooked. To be safe, raw poultry and poultry products apart from other foods and should always be fully cooked. FOOD SAFETY TIPS; - Refrigerate raw poultry promptly. Do not leave it on the countertop at room temperature.
- Keep raw poultry away from cooked food to prevent cross contamination.
- Thaw frozen poultry overnight in the refrigerator or use the microwave oven.
- Thaw only what you need. Do not refreeze thawed poultry.
- Use separate cutting boards and utensils for raw poultry and cooked food. After cutting raw poultry, wash the cutting boards and utensils thoroughly with dish-washing detergent and hot water.
- Cook poultry and eggs thoroughly to kill germs.
- Wash your hands thoroughly after handing raw poultry and eggs.
